Water Quality Monitoring for Broward County Landfill

Lion Point completed semi-annual water quality monitoring and technical reporting for the Broward County Landfill (BCL) on behalf of Broward County’s Solid Waste and Recycling Services (SWRS). The BCL is located on an approximately 588-acre parcel with 163 acres designated to be within the waste site boundary. It is a Class I designed and constructed facility, which currently operates as a Class III landfill (receiving yard trash, construction and demolition debris and furniture other than appliances).

Reporting involved analyzing trends in groundwater and surface water of hazardous chemicals and leachate indicators such as those regulated under the Potable Drinking Water Standards (PDWS), Safe Drinking Water Standards (SDWS), and Secondary Drinking Water Standard (SDWS).  Trends were evaluated for shallow, intermediate, and deep groundwater zones of the Biscayne Aquifer.
